An engine loses coolant, but the ground under the vehicle stays dry. Which test should come before replacing parts?

  1. AA cooling-system pressure test followed by a combustion-gas check
  2. BReplace the water pump because weep holes always fail first
  3. CAdd stop-leak and road-test for a week
  4. DDrain the oil and switch to a thicker grade

Why this answer

Correct — choice A

Coolant can leave through an internal leak such as a head gasket or cooler. Pressure testing shows whether the system holds pressure, and a combustion-gas test checks for exhaust in the coolant before any parts are replaced.

Wrong answers get the same treatment: you see what they miss so the next similar symptom is easier to diagnose.
